Thanks to bu11zeye for sharing this bottle.

The beer pours a medium brown-amber color with a white head. The aroma is toffee and earthy hops. The flavor is chocolate, earth, dirt and toffee. There is no detectable alcohol. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

This week before New Years I've decided to sample a variety of German bocks and schwarz biers. The Buergerbraeu DunklerBock is a pleasant second sampler of the bunch. It has a predominantly deep red hue with a head that fizzles out almost immediately. At first bite it's more carbonated than expected; this carbonation is quickly lost with each sip. Also less malt than expected. Nice toasty, nutty flavor with a weak(er) mouthfeel as it doesn't linger as long as I'd like. Highly drinkable but would do better with a sample of hard cheeses, smoked meats and bread.
