500ml bottle bought from the Co-Op, Whitby...

Poured a light coppery amber colour... Slightly off white head pours quite thick then faded to thin layer... light carbonation. Some sticky lacing...

Aroma - Nice light toasted caramel malts, light nutty sweetness, grassy hops, peppery, fruity notes (oranges, apples, some pear notes), biscuity notes, some leathery / woody notes...

Taste - Initial nutty sweetness then the spicy / floral hops kick in, light biscuity malts, light toffee sweetness underneath, definite orange fruitiness, also some apple notes, woody hints...

Feel - Quite smooth and dry... medium body... very drinkable - at 4.2% a good session beer...

Overall - An excellent and very drinkable bitter... recommended...

Purchased at the Dram beer shop in Sheffield, this filtered beer comes in a 500ml brown bottle, BBE AUG 07 and consumed in Apr. 07. Served cool in a pint glass.

A: the copper or reddish amber colour comes with good clarity and moderate level carbonation, topped with a light-brown-ish head with o.k. retention.
S: nice… flowery scent, dried longan-fruits, and juicy citrusness all come together with milder grassy hints and leafy hops; the backbone is comprised of toffee-ish malts, brown sugar, and a touch of dark chocolates.
T: bitter-sweet toffee and roast nuts upfront, decorated by a very light sour-sweet taste like berries plus grilled sliced apples… turning dryish in the nicely lingering bitter aftertaste, almost vertically-structured, tea-leafy tannic with a faint trace of char~~
M&D: this is a med-bodied, softly fizzy, fruity Bitter. Aroma comes slightly more assertive than the taste, but overall I think the bottling attempt is pretty decent and makes it a lovely drink.
