500ml bottle from Warners at the Bay into a Golden Monkey tulip.
Pours a deep brown colour with hints of ruby when held up to the light. Nice off-white to beige coloured foam on top provides a nice contrast. Little bit of spotty lacing as well.
Smells fruity to start with then turns into christmas pudding and fruit cake. Nice bit of caramel and malt as well as it warms up. Defined smell and doesn't deteriorate over time.
Taste is on the sweeter side of things. Fruit cake is definitely there, so too a bit of cinnamon, but not too much. A little cherry fruitiness also compliments this well.
Medium bodied, decently carbonated to make this sing a bit and not make it too heavy to be unsessionable in winter. Seems to really work for it. Warming, not boozy, pretty drinkable, yet still enough there to have a decent body to back up the flavour.
This hits the spot pretty well. Does everything it sets out to achieve. Flavoursome, drinkable, no faults.
