A new offering from Excalibur Brewing, an American twist on the Pale Ale with a well-balance malt and hop profile. Hop flavor is somewhat citrus, like grapefruit and lemon.

Ok cheap sixer from Outlet Grocer..brown 12 oz bottles..picture of a Romano-Celtic warrior on label, presumably Pendragon, King Arthur's father. The a roma is actually quite nice..sherbery cascade hops to be precise..least its not skunked. The beer is a nice clear amber colour with a pure white head. Flavour is sweet malts then nice but slightly subdued hops..semi dry finish..a bit watery but not bad really. Quite acceptable tongue feel to this ale. This is actually a just above average American Pale..not bad for what I paid.

The bottle says Portland, OR, and I'm pretty certain this was brewed at MacTarnahan's/Portland Brewing; it resembles their beers. Attractive label on the bottle, the beer is a darkish gold, crystal clear, with lots of frothy head. Weird aroma of unrefined hops; piney, sharp, slightly chemical. The beer itself is not exactly bad, but it's just kind of blah. The malts are thin, almost nonexistent, and the hops are certainly there but a bit too abrasive. It's certainly a notch better than most mass-produced US beers, since the hoppiness is high, but other than that it is similar to those mainstream beers. Worth trying once, for the low price and handsome label, but you probably won't fall in love with it.
