This was a wonderful surprise for me. Generic persentation belittles the depth of this beer.

Pours a deep reddish-leather, with a thin pale tan head.
Very malty on the nose with pronounced dark fruit aromas.
Taste is big and raw. Dark fruits up front with some roastedness present as well. Hops come up next to bitter things up. Has a definite tart edge as well, which I find enjoyable. Blasts you with warming and evident alcohol.

Fairly smooth to drink...may be a little too syrupy. Still pretty good in this respect.

Might be tough to drink very much of due to the thickness and rugged characteristics. But a very nice nightcap.
Bold and tasty.

Dark reddish copper..yeast sediment present..very small head...husky hop smell..a bit toosweet..hops battle to keep under control..they come close but the balance is just not there with this beer...too sweet on first taste, and too bitter on the finish..a real tartness on the finish..deeper in the hop bite mellows but I'm not super impressed with this Barley Wine...It's not horrible but it's not great...

Cloudy, Burgandy appearance. No head. Sweet, Sweet smell. Alcoholic warmth with this one. Sweet caramel malt backbone. A nicely done barleywine style ale.
