A - On-tap at the brewpub. Pitch black with a thick, creamy, nitro head. Lacing did not form as well as I expected it to, and I was left with only a light to moderate film clinging to the sides of the pint glass.
S - Mild scents of roasted coffee and chocolate. Aroma strength definitely left something to be desired.
T - Mild flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. This beer is definitely lacking in the flavor department.
M - Nitro tap makes it smooth, but it's simply too thin for a porter.
D - Goes down easy, but it's not even a decent example of a porter, so it's disappointing.
This tastes eerily similar to their R.A.M. Stout, but has more watered down flavors and mouthfeel. Thoroughly mediocre, and it's a shame they waste time rotating it with the better dry stout.

Originally reviewed May 14, 2005. On nitro-tap at the brewpub. Roasted malt aroma. Deep black with a tall extremely creamy tan head. Served on nitro. Flavor is of burnt malt and light caramel. Palate is extremely watery and hurtingly bitter. This particular example is not interesting. Batch variability is minimal with this offering, but it never is worth drinking.
