A - Pours black with no head. This was drawn from a nitro-tap and it's been a few hours since I bought the growler, so that probably explains why. Light spots of lacing, which I'm sure would dramatically improve if I were drinking this right off the tap.
S - Sweet, oatmeal grains, buttery, toffee, coffee, bitter chocolate. None of these are too prevalent, would like to have gotten a little more of a nose from this brew.
T - Bitter coffee is predominate; almost too predominate. Buttery, with a contrasting swallow of sweet grain, Baker's chocolate, and moderate bittering hops. Coffee/chocolate bitterness lingers on the tongue.
M - Medium-bodied and velvety from the nitro. Perhaps a tad wimpy for a stout.
D - I could drink a few, but it hasn't blown me out of the water.
I suspect my appearance rating would improve a half point if I had a pint of this on nitro-tap at the brewpub, but that doesn't save this slightly above-average KBC beer.
