Poured in tap at the pub in Houghton, MI. New IPA from new brewer Josh. Let's check it, the last IPA, Simcoe, was as strong as any the KBC has produced.
Appearance: Pours a very deep amber, almost brown, with an appealing white froth head with great lacing.
Nose: The nose is packed with sweet hop, kind of interesting. Borderline dried fruit and maple syrup. Roasted malt nose follows up the sweet hop.
Taste: Minimal amount of bitterness. It's really actually more of a malt sweetness. Still has that house KBC yeast taste, very similar to the other year round brews. Some biscuit like punch.
Mouth: Some good carbonation, a nice mouthful. Sticky feel.
Drink and overall: Almost a hopped amber IMO. A solid KBC offering. The hop is interesting, really complex and multi dimensional. I think Josh will improve on this over time.
