On tap at the brewpub - Dec 24, 2007. Aroma was a very dank, dusky wet pine woods. Lots of exotic caribbean spice, floral outbursts, and Buddha’s hand. Musky herbal, if not down right vegetal. of the spicy European descent. Probably the most aroma I’ve ever had from one of their beers. Poured a tinted gold, lightly baltic amber, with a opalescent, rocky glowing soap above. This beer is heavy on the hops for sure, if not brutal. There’s searing turpentine dryness, mingled with Black Cardamon, juniper berries and Douglas fir sap. Continues in the line of dank cannabis. This fades into a scortching dry grassiness. Too shallowly bitter after the first wash of hop flavor. Stays true to spiciness. Finishes in a planty, grassy bark. I think the description even said something about being brutal and sharp. There’s no need for that. IPAs should taste like hops and have bitterness, not taste like bitterness and have hops. This beer needs help for that reason alone. Somehow, a fitting homage to the Dark Ages of the Yugas. Perhaps portending the oncoming hop shortage?
