Tasted by half pint at the Ship and Mitre, a fantastic real ale+German/Austrian pub in Liverpool, on 20/01/06.
A: pours a dark mahogany hue, coming with a thin beige foamy head with relatively good retention.
S: mildly sour edge of roasted malts/barleys and caramel, coffeeish... all mixed together--light and nicely malty.
T: mildly sweet roasted-barley and smokey flavour hits the palate, backed by a refreshing sour edge of dark fruits and very mild vinous touch, just like a healthy stout should be; herbal aftertaste of hops and very very light malty overtone.
M&D: very light mouthfeel and easy drinking. Overall this is a very light-bodied, almost thirst-quenching, stout, more like a smoked mild~~ Yet the body is slightly too light to result in a satisfying and rich finish which I personally prefer.
