From notes. Sampled off tap April 30, 2005. Deep amber brown pour with hints of orange and a small off white head sitting on top. There's a deep sweet caramel malt nose with a mix of light and dark fruit aromas as well. Just a hint of alcohol comes through.
Taste is a big, rich caramel maltiness with a yummy fruity flavor that had hints of cherry, grape, plum and citrus. A healthy, but not overpowering sweetness follows suit. The alcohol is nowhere to be found here...just a very tasty sipping barleywine that served as a great start to my day at the Dane.
Smooth, medium full mouthfeel with a nice slightly syrupy creaminess. I could have drank a few of these no problem..but with all the other choices how could I? Great to see a damn good vintage barleywine on tap here. Hopefully I'll get a chance to sample it again.
