Appearance: Thin and watery looking chestnut with small bubbles and almost no head.

Aroma: Iced Coffee

Taste: Iced coffee with a little cream. Grassy finish.

MF: Slightly creamy, light, smooth, dry finish.

Drinkability: Very high. I love coffee, drink a pot or two a day. This is right up my alley. Straight up coffee ale. Wonderful.

One of the best coffee ales I've ever had! Most breweries go for the coffee porter or stout, but this is more straightforward. It's dark-amber to chestnut-brown in color with a ruby cast. A thin but creamy cap of light tan foam tops it but dissipates shortly. Still, it maintains a wide collar and whispy surface covering, and leaves some splotchy and spotty lace behind.

Coffee leaps out at you in the aroma!!! It's rich and bright, kind of nutty and not overly roasty with some grainy maltiness beneath it. Only a slight touch of hoppiness is present, but it's not really needed now, is it?

In the mouth it's smooth with a medium body; moderate, perhaps even restrained, carbonation; and slight oiliness from the coffee.

As in the nose, coffee flavor dominates, rich and wide, but also interacting with the malt and hop flavors. It progresses through coffee, maltiness,and finally grassy hop flavors. It finished dry, and surprisingly short, but with a touch of residual coffee roastiness - without the acidity. ...maybe even some malty, nutty and toasty character.

As to drinkability, one was enough for me. I really enjoyed it, but the coffee seemed to take over by the end of the glass. They serve 12 ouncers and Imperial pints... I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have made it through 20 ounces! But, I loved the 12 ounces that I had. Hmmm.... Overall it's a really interesting, really well-done brew.

appearance: dark amber-mahogany body, tan head with slight lacing. i remember thinking it was a little amber for a scotch

smell: bold as hell...all dry coffee bean on the nose, not like blended coffee but rather bold beans. burnt aromas, dry and very roasted

taste: interesting to say the least. I really cant find the scotch ale beneath the coffee blast. The flavour is dominated by roasted coffee bean, burnt roast and not much else. Its one dimensional but its a pretty good experience if you are into the java

mouthfeel: medium, dry and roasty

appearance: The beer is reddish-brown in color. The head is a dark khaki in color, and a thin layer remains for awhile after the initial recession.

smell: Medium-roast coffee beans at the front of the nose with a light grainy sweetness behind. Toasted malts and a light hop aroma.

mouthfeel: The body and the carbonation are both medium.

taste: Predominantly fresh coffee beans, as if I dumped them straight into my mouth. Something like a pot of coffee brewed with too few beans. Behind that are some grainy toasted malt flavors, but the coffee really dominates. Even given the slightly one-dimensional character of the beer, the interesting factor keeps me sipping. Dry in the finish, with a light bitterness.

drinkability: easy enough...and definately worth a try. It's probably better than I rated it, but I would like to see some more malt character on the nose and tongue to contrast the dry coffee.
