Served in a shaker pint glass at the Madison brewpub.
Another entry in my pre-interview extravaganza. It pours a clear amber-copper topped by a finger of slightly off-white micro-foam. The nose comprises caramel (both smooth and toasted varieties), light toffee, and mandarin orange syrup. The taste holds notes of caramel, toasted rye bread, buttery biscuits, flowers, and a bit of orange peel. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry-ish finish. Overall, a nice O-Fest, one of the maltier versions I've had this year.

Golden-amber hued, with full creamy bone-colored head. Excellent retention.
Vague toffee maltiness on the nose. Touches of spicy hops.
Begins quite sweet with (likely) Vienna maltiness. Pronounced carmel. Bready and lightly grainy, but not toasty in any substancial way. Sour fruitiness lingers in the distance, mostly in the form of white grapes and green apples. Finish is snapped up with some of the aforementioned spicy hops.
A hair short of medium bodied, and a touch watery. Steady and even carbonation.
A better Vienna than a marzen. Gold metal (oktoberfest) at the GABF. More of an "also-ran" to me. Decent all around, but far from special. Give me more toastedness.
