I had this on tap at the brewpub. A regular told me this had been served before so I entered rotating release for availability.
Served cool in a 1/2 pint.
A - Ebony w/ a good inch of medium tan cap that is rocky and sticks well.
S - Roasted grain, cocoa and intense coffee notes - very appealing w/ a nice herbal note of noble hops and very subtle sweet aromas.
M - Rich feel w/ roasted, yet not burned or astringent, not chalky in any way. Pleasant creamy fullness w/ very roasty and slightly sweet in the finish.
T - This is very roasty, yet full on w/ malt backbone to qualify it as a very good Irish style stout. It is light w/ sweetness and is relatively clean as far as yeast goes. The dry quality the malt is well placed and is more bittersweet like dark chocolate w/ the acrid malt that hangs on w/ a coffee-like lingering flavor.
D - A true session ale- very well crafted w/ a big stout flavor, yet not overly roasted like burnt toast or even too filling. If you like dry stouts in the Irish style this will suit- not sour, rather roasty w/ instense espresso-like impressions
