A: Cloudy, deep amber. Almost like a wheat or a hefe without any particulate. Small foam and long lasting lace.
S: Sweet, a note of honey and well rounded malt. Nice.
M: Full. A bit of bitter wash with a creamy citrus wash that left a bit of an orange peel flavor that was slight but nice.
T: Yeah, the citrus orange, ever so slight, must come from the hops. Bitter is slight and the malt backs it up. A bit of a candy like flavor lessons this a bit, but with all the tastes, good malt, good hops, this was a balanced gold beverage.
D: Yup. Since the Cumberland is brewing in a new facility, the pale and porter are no longer the nectar I raved about, but the seasonals are still brewed on premise and they continue to be excellent. Small style, Great Lakes makes this style the standard but it's a bit on the buttery side. This Dort was better. It was about all I drank. They should make this a regular.

I enjoyed this seasonal at the brewpub in Louisville. Served cold in an Imperial pint.
A - A clouded golden w/ light tan accents and a thin white head like the fresh cut daisies in a mug in front eof me at the bar in the brewpub that condenses into a film on top of the lager.
S - Mild spice and bready notes w/ a slightly sweet malt aroma.
M - Dominated by malt(of course) but a nice spiced hop and mildly effervescent feel that has a nice dry effect from mid-taste to finish.
T - A nice slight toasty malt flavor w/ subtle sweetness and nutty qualities. There is a mild grassy element in the hop flavors that emerges as it nears room temperature w/ sweetness in the middle and light dry finish.
D - My first beer at Cumberland Brews was a nice start and a good Dort. This hit the spot, well made - I'd sure return to this it has a very quaffable quality. A style I found to my liking back when serving in the 1st Armored Division in Germany, it is nice to see American brewpubs serving this.
