1.18L screw-capped glass jug - not quite sure how different this is supposed to be from the Axe Head line from this brewer, other than a few extra ticks of ABV, or the fact that its made in Calgary, as opposed to Wisconsin, which apparently isn't so much the relative boon that one might have thought it was, of late - sayonora, Dave!

This beer pours a clear, super-pale golden yellow colour, with one anemic finger of loosely foamy, and mostly bubbly, um, purple-tinted dirty white head, which leaves some actual arched space insignia lace around the glass as things slowly, slowly fade away.

It smells of sweet nail polish remover, concentrated rice pudding, rotten pears (this happens to me a lot for some reason - too close to the fridge, maybe?), conversely underripe bananas, melted plastic, and strong acetone-heavy alcohol, er, 'notes'. The taste is super-sweet wine gum and fruit, of the same apparent ilk, soulless corn and rice malt, kind of dry by themselves, in comparison, a musty leafiness, some wet metallic flintiness, rotten domestic fruit, saccharine achohol, and more micro-waved GI-Joe figurines for the cause.

The bubbles are quite inert, hardly raising any marketing board's hackles, as it were, the body a solid medium weight, in the same manner as that awesome dookie I dropped earlier today, and just as smooth, eh? It finishes sweet, sugary, and restrained in its equally saccharine booziness, like there should be an award for such a paltry achievement, the chemistry lab component doing well to keep it on the down low.

I'm guessing Dave got his mitts on this one before it got out the door (the same one he was soon shown), and into all yer finer strip-mall liquor stores everywhere in this province. Sure, this is a barley and hop-free affair, as duly expected, but it's hardly in the same class as its typical bottom shelf compatriots - ok, it is, but it does a much grander job of convincing you that it isn't, all the while bashing you over the head with its (I can't believe I'm writing this) understated booze. Kill me now, as I cannot proclaim this as the worst version of the style, available anywhere around here.
