Sustained, ivory head. Fairly cloudy, medium dark orange, with a caramel tint. Subtle, medium caramelized malt aroma, Fairly sharp, medium roast malt, with the slightest herbal/floral hint, for the taste. Fairly quick finish, with a bite of herbal hops and medium toast malt, with a nearly woody hint.

Poured a light amber/brown in color with a thick off-white head. I had a sour smell with a hint of cereal grains. Taste was wheaty, like a hefeweizen and could not get over the sour smell. Average texture, a little on the thin side. Not very enjoyable, would not recommend even trying this beer.

I sampled this brew with my beer buddy imacoug. We decided to devote an evening to a hometown brew pub that we both had avoided after past unremarkable visits. However, with hope and anticipation that time had healed the vices previously experienced we worked our way through all that Atomic had to offer.

A: It had a light diluted amber hue with a nearly white ring around the collar and modest lacing.

S: There was a faint sweet malty aroma that required an aggressive coaxing to emerge.

T: It had a light sweet malt flavor with hints of fruit. It was reminiscent of sweet fruit punch with a bitter sour aftertaste (it reminded me of my grandmothers sweetened ice tea loaded with aspartame).

M: Very thin, watery, and light body.

D: It has a thin body, low ABV and IBU and a sweet malty flavor. It is easy to drink but unremarkable and the chemical aftertaste would limit my consumption.

Atomic Amber may be too sweet for some people’s tastes though I found myself unexpectedly in the mood for it. An almost root beer-like quality dominates with only remote bitterness, and the taste departs with sugar at the lip. The result suggests low attenuation and works like a restorative with lots of available carbs.

What I didn’t care for was the sullen lack of carbonation. The body was almost devoid of bubbles and scored zero on the suds scale. A bit more vitality would bump this one up a notch.

Poured a golden amber color, with a moderate, white head. Modest lace.

Smell was vaguely hoppy, and with a slightly bready maltiness.

Taste was similar to the smell. Normally I like ambers with a little hoppy edge to them, but this one was all out of whack. The primarly flavor was one of hoppiness, but not in a good way. It was like there was some sort of maltiness meant to balance things out that was AWOL, besides a very tiny breadiness that didn't come close to matching the weird, out-of-focus hop bite.

This seemed a little watery, accentuating the "is this beer finished?" vibe this beer has.

Not a terribly great beer to say the least. It is (just) drinkable, but why would you want to?
