Imacoug and I sampled this brew at Atomic. We were informed that it was a seasonal brew that included orange peal, nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon. Additionally, the wait staff pulled the beer was still a week or so away from being ready to serve. The early draw explained the flatness and lack of head and carbonation so this review attempts to take those limitations into consideration.
A: It was a dirty copper color without any head or lacing (lack of head and lacing were influenced by the early draw).
S: It had the aroma of sweet ripe oranges, pears and apples. There was no hint of hops or alcohol.
T: It was sweet and fuity with the flavor of strawberries, oranges and nutmeg. It reminded me of apple pie. There was no hop bitterness and the sweetness was sticky and lingering. In many ways it was like drinking fruit punch or a flat soda.
M: It was light bodied and watery with a sticky sweet texture that lingered long after the liquid was gone.
D: If this brew were heated in a crock pot with slices of apples and oranges and a stick of cinnimon I would enjoy it on a cold winter night. However, I expect a beer to warm me with alochol and for it to provide some balance so that the "flavors" accent the brew not define it.
