We have developed this delicious bock in collaboration with Rema 1000. As a greeting to the cozy holiday, we have added star anise, which contributes a nice spicy aftertaste.
Julebuk is a mild bock with a nice taste of caramel and star anise.
Recommended serving temperature 8-10˚C

Copenhagen 27/12 2015. 50 cl bottle from Rema1000, Frederikssundsvej, Kbh. NV. Graphic label in dark red with a little goat studying dangling beer and flower. According to the sales text it should contain generosity, happiness and kisses. Could use some of that this Christmas.
Pours clear reddish copper brown with a white head. Settles as a flimsy layer of foam. No lacing to speak of.
Aroma is dominated by a sweet malty odor and some alcohol. Sweet caramel and brown sugar.
Medium strong carbonation and a slightly thick palate. Lightly tingling texture.
Flavor has a moderately strong sweetness with the caramel coming through. Followed by a quite distinct bitterness which dominates the picture and the aftertaste. Semi dry finish.
Quite decent bock but it does not give me any nostalgic, sweet remembrance of Christmas.
