Enjoyed as part of an Upstream Belgian beer tasting; 750ml bottle supplied by hoffman.
This review is interpreted from sloppy, disjointed notes:
Hazy gold in hue, on the pour there was just a short-lived white head, the bubbles quickly faded to a thin collar. There was no subsequent lacing. I didnt find anything remarkable in the appearance.
Minimal aromas; I can detect some oak (which is nice) and there are kisses of fruit (it is similar an old orchard with a tropical breeze). A pleasant tartness underlines the bouquet. I found the nose moderately complex. Inviting.
The palate matches the nose, in spades. This beer tastes more vibrant then I was expecting. Oaky/woody notes are found throughout with a warm acidic vibe running through as well. Plus it is tart with a long lasting finish. Citrusy lemon zest. There is a good malty base with this beer, I am surprised. The aftertaste is long and relaxing. I dont really know what style of beer this is but I know it is tasty!
Medium/medium-light in body, low carbonation, the mouthfeel is pleasant and it fits this beer well enough.
I found this beer to be tremendously drinkable. It was half the price of the Gueuze but twice as tasty! This beer was very enjoyable and it would be something Id consider buying a bottle of. Well-crafted. I am happy I got to try this one; recommended.
