Oak aged, vintage 2006, thanks to tashbrew for sharing.

Cloudy deep red in color with a small pinkish head.

Big fresh raspberry aroma, not much else other than maybe a touch of strawberries but let me just say the raspberries are INTENSE!

Huge fresh raspberry flavor too. Mildly tart but not too much so.

Medium bodied and somewhat tingly on he palate with lively carbonation.

A pretty good raspberry beer. Different from others I've had.

Enjoyed as part of an Upstream Belgian beer tasting; 750ml bottle supplied by me.

This review is interpreted from sloppy, disjointed notes:

Hazy, purple-red in hue, the color is pleasantly rich. White head, I poured it fairly small, it was quick to fade to a soapy collar. This beer looks much better then the Kriek. I am optimistic.

The nose offers aromas of dark berries and a splash of cherries and orange zest. Plus there are woody/oaky notes and a light blast of acidity. Of all the Upstream beers enjoyed this one had the best nose. It was very nice; kind of tart, warming and deep enough… inviting.

The palate was respectable; tart raspberries, light sweetness, some zippy orange and lemon zest and acidic undercurrents. Sadly, the finish is not very long and it does lack the richness to pair with a hearty cheesecake. Oh well. Flying solo this beer is good, kind of tame but likeable. It paired well with bleu cheese. It is tasty, not all that complex, but more traditional then Lindemans.

Medium/medium-light in body, low but natural carbonation, a little more life would help the mouthfeel. As is, the mouthfeel works well enough.

This is a drinkable beer. It is friendly. Of course I was hopping for greater depth and acidic bite but what I got isn’t too bad. I’ll say, nice try Upstream. Tweak the second batch; I think you’re on the right track. It was too costly to buy any more, at $20 a bottle I can spend that far more wisely. I am happy I tried it with like-minded beer buds.
