I just stopped in at the Upstream to pick up a couple of 750's of the Oak Aged Ebenezer Stout and thought I would try a Blackstone on tap. The first thing I noted was the bartender made a bad pour leaving me with 4 inches of head that once subsided, left me with about 3 inches of beer. Not a good way to make a first impression.
I was, however, impressed at the tightness of the head and the lacing was magnificent. Color was what one would expect from a stout but there was very little, if any, smell. And at first taste, this reminded me of a watered down version of an average milk stout.
While this site lists it at 5.9% ABV, the brewery lists it at 4.0%. So I'm not sure if they measure it by volume or content, but either way it doesn't matter as this is an average to slightly below average offering.
That's ok, though. One can't expect perfection 100% of the time.
