Amber orange with a fluffy white head and some decent sticky lacing. Nose of cedar, slight grapefruit, and some biscuity malts. Some snappy hoppiness is present in this beer, but it is completely out of line to call this beer a "Double" IPA. There is a toasty malt balance adequate for a "normal" IPA, and a pleasant bitterness at the finish. Active carbonation and peppery, juicy mouthfeel. As an IPA, this is pretty decent, something I'd order again if I were to visit Upstream some time in the future. It went well with my fish and chips, anyway. However, as a DIPA, this is either a woeful misinterpretation of flavor, body, and alcohol strength, i.e. sheer stylisitic ignorance, or an embarassing misnomer.
