I see the style and opted for my English pint glass, but considering the ABV on this, if I had another can, I'd go for my snifter. Here's the rest of my observations.
The appearance was a dark brown color fairly close to black with a finger's worth of off white foamy head that slid off fairly nice. Lots of speckled lace wound around the glass fairly nice.
The aroma had a ton of roast/char/ash running all around with some black cherry super faint coming in far underneath. Light coffee roast. Very imbalanced, if anything.
The flavor mirrored the aroma pretty spot on - taking the roast and ash and adding in some bitterness to stifle some of the black cherry sweetness. Mild roasty aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt as projected which made me think, I wonder if this is mislabeled on beer advocate. Mild roasty to semi-bitter and ash-like finish.
Overall, part of me wants to say this is an imperial stout and I am wishing I would have another can of this and pour it into a snifter for proper measurement of this beer. However, I'm leaving what I said as barely any BA's have said anything on this beer. Just wishing Brown's said "imperial oatmeal stout" for us.
