12.7 fl oz. bottle from Winooski Beverage, VT.
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a fairly nice glossy burnt yellow color with a lasting finger's worth of white foamy head. Nice sticky lace rides my glass.
The aroma had a sweet oak meshing with a nice tart lemon verbana and a fairly strong sour feature playing with some freshly cut grass, slight basement funk (but clean), freshly poured concrete/cement sort of character with a Spring rain-like backing. (Don't ask me how they did that, I have no clue), but I swear that's what I truly feel this beer smells like.
The flavor meshes the sour to the tart and underscores a sly sweetness from the prior mentioned aromas. A duly noted after taste of that clean basement/Spring rain, freshly cut grass and lemon verbana.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under. Has such a detailed and refined sipping quality about it with a spot on carbonation and ABV. What a finish - it's sour with a clean tart and workable meshing of sweet freshly cut grass.
Overall, this brewery has brewed many average beers for so long, I guess it was only a matter of time before they decided to quit fooling around and go for the gold. Damn right, they did! Pretty sure, they struck gold on this!
