Draught @ Brewpub: This one pours a hazy golden yellow color. There was a thin white head o it that left some lacing. It has a good nose. Bready, some spice, coriander, yeasty and some banana. The taste is very good. Banana, bready, hint of pineapple, some spice, just a bit of sweetness. A nice tripel. Even my wife liked this one.

Picked up a bottle of the dry hopped belgian strong locally (in Troy). It's a limited release dry hopped with pacific jade. Bottle date 08/18/13. Drank on 09/08/13.

The beer poured a hazy golden, but it was apparently chill haze as it cleared up as the beer warmed. Faint white head on the beer.

Smell was very fruity--pear, apple and alcohol. No hop character that I could detect over that. Taste was also very dominated by fruity esters: pear and apple up front, followed by a crisp malt sweetness and a bit of nut and biscuit character from the malts. Finishes sweet with a distinct bitterness lingering in the background. Not much hop character. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy bodied with moderate carbonation.

Overall, it's a fair belgian pale ale. The dry hopping doesn't do much for it, and it's a bit too dominated by the esters for my tastes.

A-Cloudy yellow orange, two finger head with some lacing

S-Yeast, banana, clove and wheat

T-Clove, wheat, banana, in the finish spices, some peppery notes come forward.

M-Medium bodied and nicely carbonated

O-Alcohol is masked well, a drinkable brew. One of Brown's finer beers.

Sampled at Browns before Dr. Dog concert. Notes taken from phone.

Brown's brewing Belgian Strong

A: hazy golden. No head but nicely settled and ready to drink

S: dark fruit, spiciness, and Belgian yeast smell.

T: similar to smell, nice dark fruit, yeasty to end. The spice level is high on this but not overly intense to a bad point.

M: medium to full bodied, not much carb but perfect for what it is.

D: very nice and highly drinkable for style, must ask about abv. After finding out ABV, surprisingly drinkable for ABV.

Sampled July 7th and 14th off two different kegs, second was a little more carbonated.

Overall this one fantastic spicy belgian golden ale with hints of lemon grass, coriander, pepper, cloves and orange zest. That this complexity is entirely of the yeast with no additional spices is just fantastic.

I am hoping that Brown's keeps venturing into the world of Belgians because they came out firing with this one.

Dangerously drinkable for a nearly 10% brew. It sneaks up like Duvel.

A: Golden straw/amber body with a super thin white head. The body is crystal clear.

S: TONS of spice and clove. It's like a massive wave of spice is pummeling my nostrils.

T: SUPER INTENSE clove and spice. This is one hell of a spicy beer. I think it might be a little much.

M: Medium despite the intense flavor.

D: Not bad but too strong for more than 10oz. This is possibly the most clove I've had in a beer.
