A 500ml bottle with a BB of July 2014, so it's a bit out of date. Hope it's still OK. Purchased a while back from a supermarket. Described as an easy drinking beer brewed with local hops.

A: Poured into a straight pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A hazy golden-amber colour with intense carbonation and plenty of floating sediment. Forms a large head of creamy off-white foam that lasts for a few minutes before settling as a thick surface layer. Slight lacing.

S: Aroma of dry, earthy yeast with hints of grainy malt, faint biscuits, subtle grass/hay and stewed leaves. A sensory non-event.

T: Tastes of mild grainy malt and earthy yeast with a dry finish. Notes of ale yeast, grain, faint biscuits, mild grass/hay, earthiness and stewed leaves. Well-attenuated, accompanied by a subdued, leafy bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with pleasant carbonation and decent body for the strength. Slightly astringent, followed by an aftertaste of earthy yeast esters, stewed leaves and faint malt.

O: It's fine but deadly dull. Looks OK, if rather yeasty, while the aroma and flavour are a bland mix of yeast, mild malt and leaves. Body is alright. Nothing technically wrong but it suffers from a deficit of character that renders it utterly forgettable. No need to seek this one out.

I drank this at Le Phare Bleu on the northern coast of Grenada in the Caribbean - I believe the owners of the brewery are either the same people who run this hotel, or related in some way. In any case, it was a welcome departure from the ever-present average, but refreshing, Carib and Stag.

I'm rating it 3.75 all around because I didn't take great notes - but I recall it looking and tasting like a "pulled" British pub beer. I also tasted the "That" and the "Hop Nouvelle", both of which were good, but not great. But again, given the context, I was glad to try these British beers with the warm early evening Caribbean breeze pouring in.

500 ml Brown bottle, best before Oct 11. Finally got round to opening this bottle conditioned bitter when on holiday down on the Suffolk coast.

It had sat for 5 hours in the caravan fridge (after a long car journey) but the beer still gushed out of the bottle, bringing bits of sediment with it, very lively indeed.

The body was a light amber clour, slightly cloudy because of the excitment of the beer to hit my glass. A huge off-white head sat on top of the brew and loads of bubbles could be seen rising through the body (no sediment on view, but it did give the beer a haze).

Small hop aroma, with a touch of malt, otherwise no smell.

The beer was a gentle blend of hops and malts, nothing outstanding, but agreeable enough.

A little thin in body strenght, but it is only 3.7% ABV, so that's allowed.

Overall, just an average English Bitter.
