On tap at the brewpub.

Pours a very dark amber (almost a brown) with a creamy light tan head. Lacing was fairly minimal. Aroma is mainly roasted malt, spices, and a faint hoppiness.

The taste is dark roasted malts, caramel sweetness, and a nice poppy spiciness, the most notable being cinnamon. The mouthfeel of this beer was the real highlight for me with a fantastic body so smooth and creamy, we swore that it had to be on nitro. We double checked up at the bar and it wasn't. Now that's a nice body!

This is a really nice attempt at a Munich Dunket by Red Star. A good amount of flavor, low ABV, and did I mention that spectacular mouthfeel? I could have drank just this during our couple hour stay at the brewpub.

Served from a 64 oz. growler into a chalice. The color is a dark ruby-red/brown, with a foamy tan head with nice lingering. The smell is strong with the roasted barley and a bit of noble hoppiness. The taste combines together a crystal malt caramel sweetness with the roastiness of the barley as well as a good noble hop bite in the beer that leaves a bit of a lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is well-done and properly carbonated. As for drinkability, this is a really, really nice sessioner that I'd like to have a lot more of.

This was a recent keg of the beer that won the 2002 GABF Gold Medal. Quite a nice drinker, with a nice meld of the sweetness, roastiness and hoppiness that leads to a good drinkability. Hopefully we'll see this one again!

This beer pouts an exceptionally dark color: it is quite opaque. Light tan head. The aroma is full of sweet roasted malts. Also, a good shot of hop bitterness reaches the nose. The taste is also quite roasty. A bit of spiciness to it also. The hops are definitely in the background. This is a quite smooth and drinkable beer!

Beautiful mahogany color topped by a tan head. Very clear body. The aroma is sweet roasted malt, with little hops to get in the way. The flavor is roasted malt all the way, with a strong, bitter finish. There's a lingering roasted aftertaste. It is a very smooth brew, with good carbonation that is a touch aggressive. The drinkability is good. A couple friends that sampled the beer found it to be too bitter for their tastes, but I thought it was very good. I believe this won a medal at the GABF (gold, maybe?). Defintiely worth a try if it's on tap (but it's so hard to choose from their lineup of beers!).
