Poured from a growler, this beer has only a little carbonation, perhaps intentionally, as at the brewery it also produced little head. Body is rusty brown and a tad cloudy, the wheat doing its part. Minimal lacing, only a slight ring of bubbles on the glass.

Smell is of grains and piney hops, this batch has been dry hopped in the keg.

Taste is of malts and cereals, the combination of the 4 Grains (get it?) all do their part but you can't really pick out each one. There is a nice hoppiness to the beer and a curt bitter finish. Pretty tasty.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little low in carbonation, which would be ok if this were a cask beer, but with no hand pump in sight, I'd expect a little more.

Drinkability is good. This beer is made to be a session beer and the added hops really makes it a little more interesting.

Served as a pint at Red Star. The color was copper, with a film of white head. The smell was very slight malt. The taste was a unique mix; the rye tended to dominate the flavor, though the wheat tartness and barley sweetness were there in just enough measure to keep the beer well-balanced (the 4th grain was oat, which I honestly didn't notice). Mouthfeel was average. As for drinkability, I could probably have a couple, but I think the flavors tend to muddle a bit much for sustainable drinkability.

An interesting experiment, mixing the grains to bring out the best of each. The rye adds a nice, strong dryness, the barley keeps it just sweet enough, the oats add some body, and the wheat gives some tart character. Hopefully, this recipe will be tinkered with to give the best possible balance of the flavors, but regardless this is one I'd have again!

It was pretty close to the description on the menu: Somewhat amber in color, with not too much of a head. The aroma was fairly malty. There was little if any bitterness to the taste. A good malty flavor, which was mellowed greatly by the other ingredients. Very smooth. A great session beer.
