Sample at the brewpub. Dark amber color with a thin light beige head. Thin, spotty lacing. Mildly malty nose with a bit of nuts and caramel. Medium-bodied and sweet with malt and nut flavors, as well as a touch of hoppiness. The finish is short and sweet, with a nutty aftertaste. Slightly above average all around.

Appearence: Poured from the growler a darker copper with a thin, creamy off-white head.
Smell: The smell is slightly smoky, with sweet and caramel malt notes floating everywhere.
Taste and Mouthfeel: The taste is a sweet, creamy, bready malt taste with giant grain and yeast notes at the end. It's light, slick, and balanced nicely. The complexity is nice, while still being balanced out by the light, almost crispness of the beer.
Drinkability and Overall: A nice Altbier for sure. I didn't get to try any other brews while at the brewpub as I was driving, but this one's not shabby at all. This has a very authentic German taste to it. Give it a shot sometime.

Draught: This one pours with a bit of a fluffy head. The color is pretty much a clear coppery amber shade. The aroma is a little thin. There were some hopiness, along with some minor malts. There was a bit of a hop taste to the beer, with a dryness in the aftertaste. There was also a hint of fruit sweetness to the taste.

Served as a pint at Red Star. The color was amber, with a ring of white head. The smell was caramel malt sweet. The taste starts off with malt sweetness, but the hops quickly start to shine through and dominate, and leave a bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is well-carbed. As for drinkability, a nice session beer that I could enjoy a few of.
A nice, hoppy session beer from Red Star, and a nice example of an alt. My brother ordered one of these after the Double IPA, which must say something. Certainly one I'd enjoy sessioning with.
