Served in a pint glass at Red Star. The color was amber, with a wispy head. The smell was a very nice mix of malt and hops. The taste was a balanced mix of the sweet malt and grassy hoppiness...maybe not as bold as some other old ales, but very smooth. Mouthfeel was average. As for drinkability, this was one that had a remarkable amount of sessionability, and as a result I could have quite a few of these.
Another fine beer from Red Star, Western PA's best kept beer secret. A solid old ale that doesn't suffer from hop or malt overload, and as such is one that I would drink again.

Appearance: Deep ruby amber hue thin head forms cream in color, dwindles down leaving specks of sporadic lacing. Aroma: Sweet rich malty English style old ale some caramel and toasted malts with a fruity undertone and touch alcohol. Taste: Touch of raisin flavor here, has the alcohol and fruit combo working the magic but it doesn't over do it on anything nice rich malty ale with a toasty finish, excellent. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied jewel, great sweet finish but doesn't offend with too much rich maltiness some hop balance takes the reigns and saves the day. Drinkability: One of the "higher" abv beers offered really nice Old Ale I could drink a couple of these, once again I must give my props to the crew at Red Star top notch brewpub in western PA.
