Gave it a bonus for being 4.2% and still tasting that good.

16 oz. Can

Poured into a Squatters true pint glass a pretty nice dark brown color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy two-finger tan head, which leaves some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with a nice toffee note, some chocolate. The taste is malty, with a nice toffee note, some chocolate, nice sweetness. Medium body, ABV is hidden very nicely. Overall, a tasty brew, a nice thirst quencher.

Wow, Magic Hat. Can't remember the last time I had a beer by Magic Hat. I mean, it's gateway craft, right? The stuff you drink in college and then move on from?

So Barroom Hero, then. I didn't make the connection with the Dropkick Murphy's song until I read the description on the label. It's cool, I guess. Pours a dark, dark brown with little head. No lacing to be found here.

Inhale and the malts come forth, bringing with them sweet biscuits and caramel. It's inviting and comforting.

Take a sip, and the malts envelop your tongue with sweet biscuit cookies, a bit of caramel, a hint of coffee. This is malt country, and it's delicious. Each sip finishes with just a trace remaining, teasing you to take another.

I gotta hand it to Magic Hat, they made a delicious, flavorful brown ale that I would be happy to drink anytime. 4.2% you say? That's a lot of flavor packed into a sessionable brew. Hats off to you, Magic Hat.

Very loud! Fizzy with a brown cap that settles quickly like a cola. Smells differently than that. Darker grains with toast and hints of chocolate. Clear brown ale. Only hints of sweetness. No apparent hops that I noticed.
Drinks like the light brown ale it is. Rather dry. Darker toast with a roast drying on the finish. Rather carbonated. Too much for my taste. Not as thin as I believed it would be considering the small size. A little nutty but no caramel or toffee. A light green hop quality.
Easy drinking and robust flavor for a small beer.

Magic Hat Brewing Co. "Barroom Hero"
16 fl. oz. can, "DEBUTTED ON 021018 6 20410033A" and sampled on 052718
$3.49 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Look: Mostly clear/slightly hazy deep mahogany brown body beneath a short head of light tan foam. Very limited head retention and lacing.
Smell: Mildly chocolatey malt. No apparent hops. Clean. No yeasty fruitiness.
Taste: Medium caramel and milk chocolate. Chocolate fudge-like. Gently toasty and nutty. Some mild leafy/grassy and tea-like hops appear in the background. Moderately bitter but still dry in the finish with the same caramelish, chocolatey (somewhat like a Tootsie Roll), and nutty/toasty malt and underlying hops lingering. Nicely balanced.
Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp.
Overall: It makes a pretty good session ale at just 4.2% abv, and I'm glad they chose to put it in a pint can. I could personally drink about 2 of these before I'd had enough as by the end of the pint I felt like it was building a little bit on the palate.

This isn't too bad but I have to say it always amazes me with every Magic Hat I drink I can always get a taste of the #9 somewhere along the way....

Looks lighter than guineas
Smells a light aroma of soy sauce
Taste is not bad like but kind of like a flat diet cherry coke with hints of clove.
Head dissappears quick.

16ozcan poured into pint glass. Looked good nice head that faded fast. Not much aroma/smell
Taste was very bland. I have enjoyed other Pub Ales but this one doesn’t have much taste. It seemed to go flat about half way through the pint. Would not have it again. Much better Brown Ales are available.

Decent fluffy foamy head, decent lacing, clear auburn ruby color, streaming bubbles

Nose toasted biscuity brown malts, little buttery biscuit bread, toasted reddish malt, hint caramel sweetness, and toffee, herbal grassy leafy British hops, not sure if buttery is diacetyl or brain manifestation due to biscuity malts and toffee

Taste more toasted malts, big biscuity brown but sweet caramel and toffee, touch of toasted reddish malt and candy note, fair sweetness, mild grassy herbal British hops mild bitterness, little spicy later, semi sweet finish little bitterness

Mouth is med bod, decent carb, little syrupy

Overall not bad, nothing special, typical English brown, wish it was a bit hoppier
