Poured from a 22 oz bomber; unknown birth date. Pours copperish-brown with decent head; rapidly recedes. Burnt malt and caramel notes. Tastes more like a British pub beer... which is fantastic.

3/4 PINT bottle
Served in a pint glass
This beer pours brown. It has copper highlights when held to the light. It is topped with an inch of tan head that leaves virtually no head.
The smell is cocoa, chocolate, toast, and caramel.
The taste is caramel, toast, and bakers chocolate. It has a slightly bitter taste.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel
It was a good excuse to listen to the Dropkick Murphys. It is not a terrible beer. The Dropkick Murphys definitely improve the experience.

Not too bad. Reminded me of a lighter brown ale at times, but still a solid, easy to drink and enjoy beer. No date printed on bottle. Pours a medium brown color with no real head or lingering lacing to speak of. Smells of lighter nuts, malt, caramel, vanilla, bread, a little milk chocolate and maybe a touch of lightly roasted coffee. Taste follows the nose, not quite as rich as I would have liked and more bready malts upfront but still easy and fun to drink. Mild, slightly thin mouthfeel, decent carbonation, beer became a little more thin as it warmed. Not too bad, just perhaps expected a little more from Magic Hat.

Appearance: Pours a deep brown, amber color with a creamy light tan head. SRM of 20-22 (3.75)
Aroma: Light to moderate aromas of toast. Only traces of coffee. More toast than anything, unless you consider Folger's a coffee. There's caramel and toffee baked toasted bread. Hints of redfruit including raspberry and raisins. (4.25)
Flavor: Flavor follows the nose with even more toast. Hints of caramel, but mostly toasted bread. Not much coffee again. Really nails the toastiness. Finishes dry and watery. (3.75)
Feel: Lighter-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Slightly creamy body, but overall finishes toasty and watery, like washing down a bite of morning toast with a glass of water. (3.50)
Compared with Mankato's Break Away Brown Ale (American Brown): This one pours a slightly lighter color. More toasted malts on the aroma rather that cocoa and smoke. Less cocoa, hops, and smoke on the flavor. More malty and sweet, but given the lower alcohol, relatively similar in sweetness. Less carbonation and more watery.
Overall: A very nice and light English Brown Ale. Lighter-bodied, but makes up for it in flavor. Great toasted flavors. The dryness really allows the toast to present itself. Finishes watery though, is the only negative. Overall, extremely clean and would enjoy drinking a few of these of a style that isn't so common around the states. (Final Rating: 3.6... I feel like it's better than the final rating)

Purchased a sampler 12 pack of Magic Hat glass bottles with 3 other types of beer. I love DKM music and I love a good ale so I figured I would start with Barroom Hero. Poured it into a little snifter glass so I wouldn't drink it too fast. It hits the glass with little head and lacing, but it does have some nice sized bubbles exploding as it simmers down. It has a dark molasses color and I can't see through the glass. It smells malty and has that taste as well. There's a tiny hint of sweetness to it and goes down very smooth. It's thick and full bodied yet easily drinkable. The taste reminds me of something familiar but I can't place it. I'm so happy there are 2 more of these waiting for me later! It's definitely an ale with character and not a standard run-of-the-mill beer. I believe a person that's not a fan of dark beers would enjoy this one...I know I am!

Look is a bit darker than the usual brown ale.
Smell is a bit burnt, but I like that smell.
Taste is like a typical brown ale, but a little more smoky.
Feel is smooth and easy to drink.
Overall I’m definitely a fan.

Pours a deep dark mahogany with a tan head.
Smells of dark fruit plumb, raisin, nutty roasted bread backed by some floral hops.
Lively carbonation keeps the flavors moving dark fruit follows nose flowing to sweet caramel roasted malt with whole grain bread notes = delicious.

LOOK: Pours a very dark brown with a tan head that is gone in the wink of the eye, with practically no side glass lace. AROMA: Molasses, some burnt brown sugar.
TASTE: Tepid malts of bread and biscuits but lacking in strength.
FEEL: Low carbonation,,
Love brown ale's, but not this one. Disappointing.
