Pours copper with a 1/4 inch tan head, which dissipates. No lacing. Hazy, some suspended particles.
Aroma of maple, molasses, roasted malt.
Taste follows nose, maple, molasses, roasted malts, also caramel malts.
Medium bodied, light carbonation. Semi-sweet finish.
Surprised this is listed as retired. I just picked up a 4-pack from my beer store. Can says "Limited Edition". So, maybe it's a one time revival? No date on cans. This is a pretty decent maple flavored doppelbock.

Draught pint at The Brass Tap here in Baltimore. Medium brown w/a minimal whitish head that quickly disapates leaving a thin ring. NO aroma I could detect, but the bartender here thought he might be detecting very faint hints of toffee & molasses. Those two were much more detectable on the tongue with maybe a little raisin. A nice satisfying (chewy even) feel. A solid example of a doppelbock.

Very dark brown color, almost black, with a soapy tan head that fizzes quickly away, leaving no lacing.
Smells like burnt toast, cacao, molasses, and maple syrup.
Tastes like burnt toast, molasses, toffee, maple syrup, cacao nibs, black licorice, and raisin. Very toasty, slightly burnt, huge malt profile, and a hint of maple syrup.
Full and creamy body with good carbonation. Solid but still quite drinkable.
A good Doppelbock, with a nice hint of maple syrup.

Not a fan of dopplebocks. This one seems pretty average. Has a sweet fruitiness with a nice malt finish. This one is pretty flat. I don't know if it's supposed to be like that or just the can I got.
