A collaboration with Hermit Thrush Brewery in Brattleboro, VT. Sour #9 is a perfect, pucker-inducing balance of both breweries. Gentle sour apple aromas lead the way into stone fruit, citrus and red currant before a taste bud-clenching sourness takes hold before revealing the classic, subtly sweet mysteries of #9.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Nearly clear golden amber pour with a finger of fizzy white head. Falls fast... leaves a little ring of lacing.
S: Tart and funky. Green fruit, oak, and citrus.
T.F: Tart but not sour. Funk... oak and green apple skin. Apricot, apple-cider vinegar, and lemon citrus. A hint of sweetness towards the finish. Medium to light bodied... sticky on the tongue with ample carbonation.
O: A well executed sour IPA. I like this way more than the straight 'Magic Hat #9', and it lacks the bigger pucker of a lot of the Hermit Thrush brews. Glad I got to snag a can.
