Poured into a pint glass, the appearance was a semi-dark black color with some light brown hues in and around the color. Rimmed with an off white foamy head dissipating at a decent pace. Mild lace. The aroma had a ruggedly burnt coffee grounds to mild roast. German lager yeastiness seems to be extremely faint, mild earthy to rugged chocolatey-ness. The flavor yields to that rugged burnt to roasty and semi-earthy sly woodiness. Some leather and then enters on into a mild bready/woody/earthy/roasty aftertaste strolling into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability to it. German yeast strength seems weaker and so the feel keeps that rugged burnt coffee ground grinding into my tongue. Overall, perhaps could have used a bit more of the German lager yeast to quicken the pace of the smooth breadiness to come out in the feel. Maybe again, for now, leaves me scratching my beard a little bit.
