Very pale with a thin ring of white lace on top, aroma of sweet pale malt could tell if it was a buttery or dms smell ... to vague to tell. Clean and crips with a quick snap of pale malt and spicy hops, very refreshing. Good job for such a light beer.

I got this with the sampler. Cute presentation, on a fish shaped tray with five small sampler beers adorning it.
This beer is a pale flaxen yellow, the lightest in the sampler, topped with a thin ring of white head. Some carbonation bubbles float gently up. The head dies out to a couple sparse patches of white clinging like lost sailors to the edge of the glass.
The aroma is certainly light. Some pils malt is apparent, with a very mild hopping and a bit of floral esters and a distinct apple juice aroma. For a light style beer, this is decent. I don't think it's designed to appeal to someone who hunts down the latest limited edition barleywine and trades beer through the mail with other geeks on the other side of the country. Certainly a huge step up from a can of Duff Lite.
The flavor starts with some sweetish mild pils malt. Some mild corny DMS flavor, with a bit of breadiness. It's a bit like what I recall Shipyard's light ale tasting like, minus the corn, although I haven't had that in ages. Some faint floral esters and an appley flavor fade through the middle, rescinding back in favor of a light herbal hop finish. I don't know what variety is in this, but it's one I don't really care for. It's a bit hay-like. The body is very light, with a rather plain mouthfeel evoking neither like nor dislike. The carbonation is pretty much middle of the road.
I actually asked if I could have a different beer instead of this one, but the server said it was a set selection. For what it is, it's pretty good. I'm just not the kind of beer drinker that orders a light beer. I doubt any of us are. This would surely do in a pinch, or on a really hot day after being dragged all over Cape Cod looking at all the overpriced kitsch and tchotchkes in those quaint little antique "shoppes" all over the peninsula. At least I got to stop into the overpriced art stores, not the ones that hawk the same lame Thomas Kinkaid landscapes painted in a semi-monochrome of various colors to match your furniture, but places that sell actual supplies for making your own art. Oh yeah....and the liquor stores with ancient bottles of beer still on the shelves with a "best before" dating from 1998. I did find a couple barleywines and belgians that I managed to convince the clerks were no good after jiggling the bottle and allowing the sediment to stir up.
But what does that have to do with the light ale? Well, the brewpub was my reward after enduring a day of shopping with the girlfriend. It would be sweeter if she didn't like beer, as well. Talk about a tangent.
The light ale was good for what it was.

Pour is a clear yellow straw, small ring of white bubbles is about the best head you will get. Aroma is light, some slight malt sweetness can be detected. Flavor is lightly malty sweet, with some grassiness. Body is thin, not much to this particular brew.
