Great to see an attractive new 16 oz. can from Cape Cod. Same fine product but much more appealing package than the former 22 oz. bottle. Citrusy aroma. Flavor seems to emphasize tropical fruits and pineapple. Medium body with a crisp bitter finish. Lives up to its "Bitter End" label as it's definitely on the bitter side of the DIPA category. Overall, however, very drinkable and a canned product that will definitely be purchased again on my next trip to Cape Cod.

An excellent double IPA. A strong piney-bitter flavor with a hint of citrus/floral aromatics on top of a strong malt backbone. Primarily of the chewing-on-tasty-wood class of DIPAs. My only qualm would be that it just barely qualifies as a DIPA, bordering on just beings a strong IPA, reminiscent of a Ballantine.

Pours a nice creamy fluffy 1.5 finger head that fades at a med pace, leaves a nice lacing as well, hazy pale orange color.

Nose brings plenty of hops, a mix of grassy earthy, with some sudsy notes, little lemon and citrus, general fruitiness, mild herbal earthy and a touch of pine. Also a sweet candy malt, mild toasted reddish notes, sweet malty, hint of candied orange and some caramel like.

Taste brings sweet malts out front, a big malt bomb for an IIPA, sweet candy malt, little syrupy, caramel and toffee. then grassy earthy hops, little floral notes, with candied tree fruits, generic fruity note, herbal mild piney notes, touch of herbal tea, and touch of pine sap and rind. A big mix of sweet malts, and various hops that just seem to go all over, not sure what direction this was actually trying to do, but it gets super bitter on the back end, long sticky sweet and super bitter finish, nothing really dominating, and a waft of warming booze on the back end.

Mouth is thicker bod, a bit syrupy, nice carb at least, hint of booze on the back end.

Overall, meh, it's OK at best, a mix of various hops that don't seem to have a direction, too much malt all over and sweet, nothing blends too well, it's at least somewhat enjoyable, but mostly a hodge podge IIPA from 10 years ago when everything was about getting as big and as bitter as you can.

Groeler was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: A two finger head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a copper color with great clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Super nice lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Fruity, floral, citrusy, pungent, herbal, caramel, and a little alcohol.

Taste: Same as above with mild tingly bitterness in the rear.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium to full bodied, a little alcohol, and medium carbonation.

Overall: Pretty nice DIPA from the Hyannis folks. Like like I'll have to look forward to this next year. Thank god I have enough left in the growler to fill my glass.

A new format from Cape Cod Beer, departing from their growlers in favor of a 22oz. bottle should make this a little more accessible. Sometimes you don’t want a growler, know’m sayin?

I’ll preface this by saying I got this the day it was released, so it was arguably at the top of its freshness and hopitude. Pours a copper color with a finger of moderate head. You get a whiff of the hops right off the bat.

Flavorwise there is a brassy tang to it, with lots of fresh hop flavor. Very herbal, quite piney. Something about this reminds me of a Maine Beer Co. IPA, similar flavor profile but perhaps not as smooth and refined. Still, worlds better than the standard Cape Cod Beer IPA.
