I was not a huge fan of IPA's till I tried this double IPA from Bastone Brewery in Royal Oak. I decided to try it after I did a beer tasting and to my surprise loved the flavors that emanated from their regular IPA so when the double came out I had to try it. Excellent flavor! It has a strong hoppy flavor followed by an instant clean smooth tasting finish. I tried North Peaks bottled IPA later on that night and it didn't come close to the flavor this Bastone's IPA delivered, but it was still tasty. Thank you Rock @ Bastone for making such a wonderful IPA that ended up changing my mind about IPA's all together. :D

Brought a growler of this back from my recent Detroit trip. On the board as a 'Belgian Double IPA'.
Poured a deep and slightly hazy, amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of orange peel, caramel, citrus, pine, and a little on the doughy side. Tastes of citrus, pine, caramel, and light wood. Medium bitter finish with light malts.

I had this beer poured from the tap at the restaurant. A nice copper colored slightly hazy pour with a soft white/ tan head that lasted through the whole pint. Aromas of hops and a slight belgian character were evident and a little malt. The flavors of this beer were hops, hops, hops. There was enough malt to back it up but a little more would have been nice. Carmel tones as well as candy sugar were slightly present and in good combination. Very smooth and drinkable for the almost 10% abv. Definately worth a try.

Thanks to hopdog for this...
Appears a hazy amber color with a fluffy white head. Scattered streaks of lace left all around the glass.
Smell is of caramel, flowers, dough, citrus, pine, and candy.
Taste is of the same aromas with a light woodiness to the flavor.
Mouthfeel is slightly thin with the bitterness slightly outweighing the malt.
