Standard brown half liter bottle with a colorful label featuring a very happy guy in a guard uniform. Ingredients conform to the purity law. Best before 6/26/04, I opened it on 6/1/04.
Pours a pretty average clear gold under a one finger white head that fades to film and collar quite quickly, but leaves some pretty good lace spots. The nose is mild, with just a touch of barley. None of the bad watermelon smell of most "Zhigulovskoye" beers. The mouth is light and prickly. The taste is quite good, actually, with a good malt opening followed by some noticeable metallic hops that offer a refreshingly crisp bite. I expected a drain pour, but I'll happily finish this one.
