This beer is really very delicious looking -- a deep rich brown/copper color, with a thickish and creamy looking head.
The initial impression is also very favorable: a really thick, creamy, and slightly oily mouthfeel, that just screams "drink me!", and a burst of almost honey-like (but not excessive) sweetness moderated by rather fetching sourness and delicate but somewhat interesting bitterness.
Unfortunately those first enticing taste impressions seem to fade after a while, and it becomes a just sort of average tasting japanese beer, if a bit fresher and bolder. Not really bad, mind you, just not very distinctive, and a little disappointing given the initial burst of flavors.
However the really nice mouthfeel remains until the end, and this kept me happy enough. I didn't regret ordering this, but I'd probably look around for something else to drink for the next round... It might be a great session beer though.
