22oz glass at Venti’s taphouse in S.Salem. $5.75 Dark brown with a large tan head. Attractive with some Good roasty,toasty slight hop aromas. Very roasty,chocolaty,dark coffee style porter.. wonderful really. Good smooth yet interesting mouthfeel on this one Good trad ( in the PNW style) porter.
Good with a the burger i had.

Poured from tap at Amnesia Brewery on Mississippi.
Imagine my surprise to be tasting this gem of a porter on the patio on a cool and sunny August evening. This is a stunning porter that one can appreciate even in sunshine and warm weather. It's a nice balance of flavor and texture with a light to medium body.
Don't be fooled by its appearance, it looks like a mean monster stout, but this beer is your friend! Lots of dark malts with cocoa, coffee bean, roasted espresso, and charred wood notes on the nose and palate. The hops are mild yet they are present adding a nice layer of complexity. The tannins and acids play well together (I tossed them a ball and they played catch. Seriously!).
This is a very good porter and one that can appease dark beer aficionados even in summer!

Don't be fooled by its appearance, it looks like a mean monster stout, but this beer is your friend! Lots of dark malts with cocoa, coffee bean, roasted espresso, and charred wood notes on the nose and palate. The hops are mild yet they are present adding a nice layer of complexity. The tannins and acids play well together (I tossed them a ball and they played catch. Seriously!).
This is a very good porter and one that can appease dark beer aficionados even in summer!

Poured into bubble pint glass. Poured a very dark brown/light black color. Poured with about 3/4 inch of deep tan colored head. This beer looked exactly like a porter should.
The nose was full of the deep roasted and toasted malt aromas that were expected. The flavors followed along nicely with just a hint of coffee on the tongue.
A wonderful full and smooth body leads this porter to very nice and easy drinkability. Overall, an above average porter that should be tried if seen.

On tap at the brewery, one of my favorite beer spots in town.
Very dark body, almost pitch black. Only half a finger of dark tan head, but the retention is not bad. Some lacing. Looks as imposing as most big stouts.
Smells, well, like a porter. Straightforward dark malt with hints of coffee and chocolate.
Much more lively in the mouth. Huge burnt malt and coffee flavors. A bit of chocolate in the background. Big soapy hops and aggressive carbonation in combination with that burnt malt provide an interesting 'scratchy' mouthfeel. Long lingering burnt malt finish.
Overall impression: Pretty bold porter, recommended.
