Weizen bocks can be among the most exotic and complex of beers and Main Streets effort is certainly no exception to this. Its color is a distinctive auburn-rust perhaps russet or henna. The aroma is freakish and profuse. It leaps from the glass and does a table dance across the bar with outlandish notes of clove, banana, and birch. The taste is equally robust with a solid measure of banana bubblegum, black pepper, and licorice.
I know a taste profile such as Ive just described is bound to sound perverse to some. (Banana bubblegum and black pepper?) Dont worry. These are mere descriptives. Signposts. The greater truth is that the flavor as a whole is infused with a genteel mellowness that keeps it accessible despite its lavish exotica.
This weizen bock is brewed with greater than 50% wheat malts. It is a three-ring circus of a beer. Dont miss it.
