Main Street calls this beer "Farmhouse." To me, it seems reasonable to assume then, that this is a farmhouse-style beer in the rustic, barnyard sense of it. And yet the beer shares more in common with a witbier than any funky farmhouse variety. As a witbier, Farmhouse is reasonably satisfactory. As a farmhouse ale, it is not.

Farmhouse is peculiar in the sense that the taste profile has a pronounced "break" to it. It comes on mild at first with a Belgian yeast-on-toast flavor. But as it hits the middle palate, it "breaks" into a flavored ale presumably spiced with orange peel and coriander. Bittering is strong, perhaps due more to coriander spice than to hops. The aroma is lightly spiced and has some charm, while the body is a gently hazed brassy color with no carbonation and no lather or lace.

Adequate but a little tired. And not brewed to the farmhouse style as the name implies.
