My bottle had a green label and was 8% not 9%, so maybe mine was a year old. Didn't taste off, but didn't taste good either, so who knows. Purchased at Peluso in Feb. 2011.

Aroma and taste to me seem to be of a candy cane and not much else. It goes down easy, I don't get the alcohol bite that others have mentioned, but I don't get anything but sweetness. Had a Hopfenstark Ostalgia Blonde before this, maybe that is dominating this but I think it is probably that this beer is not that good.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of brown sugar with some dry fruit ester and loads of alcohol. Taste is also dominated by a solid malt backbone with notes of brown sugar but unfortunately this whole mix is dominated by hot cloying alcohol notes. Body is a full with limited filtration and good carbonation. I think this beer could have been at least somewhat drinkable were it not for the cloying alcohol.

500ml Bottle

Appearance - The beer pours a murky amber/orange colour with a very large size creamy beige coloured head. I can't see much carbonation due to the murkiness of the beer and there is a decent amount of lacing on the sides of the glass. The head lasted for around 5 minutes.

Smell - malts, banana, cherries, hops

Taste & Mouth - The beer has a lot of carbonation and feels very lively on the tongue. Most of taste is made up of bananas, malts and a cherry sweetness. The alcohol is not well hidden and there is a strong medicine like taste. Almost like an aspirin pill has been dissolved in the beer. The beer finishes with a sweet medicine like aftertaste.

Drink - This beer had potential but it is way too harsh. The alcohol and medicine flavour make it almost undrinkable.

A - Pours into my Chimay goblet with a good two finger head that's tan in colour and has staying power. Cloudy, dark blonde colour, with orange notes. Medium carbonation there too.

S - Earthiness and veggie qualities. Significant amount of spice with some gentle hops and toasted grain.

T - Sweet spice with some fruitiness and toasted grain. Alcohol in the finish is unpleasant and not warming as I would like it to be.

M - Nice carbonation. Alcohol fills the mouth with it's harshness. Creamy finish. Not something I ejoyed keeping around.

D - Nice to try but not my thing. Alcohol is too harsh and it lacks development of the flavours that pulled through in the aroma. This brewery has significant problems.
