The fourth beer tasted, by half-pint, at the Land of Liberty's Easter Beerfest., 13/04/06. Served by a handpump.
A: bright, reddish-copper hue, thin foamy beer head, great clarity, low carbonation.
S: sweet but quite light-bodied caramel maltiness abounds, along with cherry-jam, raisins, brown sugar... a little winey too--at 5.2%abv. the alc. hides pretty well; overall, aromatic and mellow.
T: a mild and smooth dark fruity maltiness upfront is balanced by a profoundly hoppy backbone with its deep, bitter support--good lingering flavour of bitter-sweet amber malts in the end, showing a subtle balance in this rather strong-flavoured ale.
M&D: slightly thin-bodied for its fullsome palate, but its hoppy bitterness balances the malty edge just skilfully, making it a lovely and almost more-ish drink. a nice brew to round off a session of decent bitters at this great country-side pub.
