(Notes of 13/04/2007) Tasted by a half-pint at the Capitol, a JDW pub at Forest Hill, SE London. The name sounds like this is a special/seasonal beer for Easter.
A: dark amber in colour with slight haze, a creamy beige head stays on top of low carbonation, leaving tight lacing behind.
S: lively fresh herbal and floral hops abound, along with a touch of sulphur. Hops dominate and very weak presence of malts.
T: nectar-ish sweet juicy pale malts and floral hop flavour are followed by a deepening zesty-dry bitterness and a faint trace of chocolate malts that make a good impact at the back. Very enjoyable and soothing citric fruits, ever-lasting Golding's bitterness, and dried grass note go down the sides of tongue, leaving a tannic palate to contrast with a lingering malty aroma.
M&D: soft and smooth on the texture, not flat at all; this is a med-bodied, quaffable hoppy bitter. Very drinkable when served fresh.
