33cl bottle, poured cold into a taster’s snifter in Toulouse, France. A pillowy off-white foam rises above a cloudy yellow-gold brew. Gentle lacing is present throughout the experience.
Nothing much for smell, other than a bready yeasty baguette.
Taste is a tug of war between sweet and bitter. It has Belgian yeast, but wants to be an IPA. I like the game. Short, crisp finish with a bitter good-bye.
Mouth is semi-heavy and a bit creamy.
Overall, I notice a couple things about stronger French beers.,. they use hop extract to juice the flavor, and bottle conditioning is a thing. It extends the beer’s shelf life. ‘Best by’ date for this one is 4/11/2025. There’s a little yeasty silt in the bottle that I’m not used to with American versions of ‘hoppy Belgians’.,.
This is pretty good, but it feels like the beer is trying to find an identity.
I continue to explore and learn.,,
