On tap at American Flatbread, Burlington, VT.
Labeled as a sour foreign-style stout, aged on dates.
The bartender asked me, "You're okay with sour beers, right?!?!?" And I am okay with sour beers, if they're done right. I think maybe her assessment of this one was a bit over the top.
Poured a solid, dark brown-black color with a beige ringlet; minimal lacing. Some dark roasty malts on the nose, and not much else aside from a subtle herbal tea scent. Solid roasty malts in the taste, reflecting the aroma, followed by a very light sourness, accompanied by a raisiny flavor that come off more phenolic than anything, a tea-like astringency in the finish. Medium body, and a bit messy overall. I think they were trying for something good here, but it just missed the mark.
