A-hazy golden color with a nice white head and decent lacing

S-wheat, lemon, little yeast

T-lemon, wheat malt, little acidity wheat aftertaste

F-light body with moderate carbonation, crisp and tart

O-not as tart as I prefer, wheat aftertaste was fairly prominent

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

read "burliner" on the menu, a rather obvious play on words with the city name, but i dig the beer a whole lot. under 3% abv is relatively unheard of, and in a beer so full of flavor i am stoked to be able to have as many as i want and not be sloppy. clearish bright yellow, really radiant for the style, not much head. there is an apple juice sort of nose to this before the lacto, suggesting warm fermentation and some fun yeast strains. wheat malt base is really light, while the tartness lingers in a lemony squeeze. its a great beer, a cool example of the style, and unlike so many. its got all sorts of cool fruity wrinkles and finishes pretty long too. dry as hell, nice and light, and just a perfect summer session beer. carbonation could be picked up just a tad, the only real drag about an otherwise outstanding brew. also nice with the food there, it lets me eat more, being so light. i love this place!

 

 

On tap at American Flatbread Burlington. Served in a short pint. Actually labeled Burliner Weisse on the menu, but whatever.

Appearance - Hazy pale yellow. Small white head. Retains a thick collar.

Smell - Very wheaty. Lactic acidity. A little lemony. Very simple.

Taste - Tart. Pleasant lactic tartness. Again it's lemony. Grainy for a moment but sourness lingers. Mineral flavor in the back.

Mouthfeel - Very light, but not watery. Nice tartness.

Overall - Very simple, but flavorful. A simple and excellent representation of the style.

A-Mine was served 'mit schuss' which I'm guessing means something along the lines of 'with syrup'. I had mine with raspberry syrup so this one looked like pink lemonade.

S-Light, sweet raspberry. Hard to pull much out of the beer after the syrup.

T-The raspberry syrup dulls down any tartness in this brew. It's also not too sweet but I wish this had a bit of tart to make the raspberry syrup seem more natural.

M-Light but slightly sticky via syrup. Still quite bubbly.

O-Cool way to serve it. Should have tried it pre-syrup but I love me some raspberry so I was somewhat happy with it.
