Slightly funky, slightly sour and enjoyable.

 

Appearance - golden colored body with white head

Smell - apple, pear, lime

Taste - apple, lime, pear

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, medium carbonation, citrus upfront, funk on the back end

Overall - decent Belgian Style ale that is worth a try, but didn't get me excited enough to want to re-visit - this is lacking some of those spices (clove, coriander, etc) that define the style.

 

I tried this at the American Flatbread in Burlington,VT. It poured a hazy yellow with white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had potpourri and Brett notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with saison Brett flare. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's an ok beer.

 

 

This pale golden bottle pour is capped with a 1/2 cm foam pillow. The aroma is light with Brett and lemon. The flavor is straight-up saison. The lemon and pepper are typically prominent. The tartness is low to moderate. The finish is considerably less dry than many others of the style. This is refreshing and quite pleasant.

A:
Pours a fairly clear gold with a billowing ivory head. Great retention; stringy lacing. (4.25)

S:
Citrus tartness and light funk, lime, light peppery spice, a whiff of flower nectar sweetness. (4.25)

T:
Crisp, dry, mineraly, lime zest, grassy hop bite, bread crust (the good kind). (4)

M:
Light body with very active carbonation that leads to a fluffy feel and a dry, aromatic finish. (4)

O:
A very nice saison.
It pours, smells, tastes and feels just like it should. It is not exciting or crazy in any one way, it is just a bready/lightly fruity, dry, lowish alcohol saison. There is a nice balance between the grassy hops and citrus pith/pepper yeast character. Textbook. (4)

500 ml. bottle.
Moderate pour yields a one inch white head over a very slightly hazy golden body with some nice lacing. Nice herbal/floral nose with ever so slight funk/pine/fruit. Taste of slight funk, spice, and pine/fruit with a near dry finish. Nice feel and overall, great job from Burlington, VT and would have again. Cheers!

 

Poured from a recently purchased bottle into the task glass ,
A - Beautiful straw colored backdrop lots of carbonation feeds pillow white head .
S- Dusty grains some winter wheat a lot of yeast character with hints of lemongrass , The most gentle thread of tart funk also in mix
T - Warm sourdough, green melon, a touch of pine apple, rather muted
M - Excellent feel the carbonation adds a nice cleaning quality linger is again with the dusty grains
O - an interesting offering from the talented Brewer I have another bottle of that I’m gonna let rest and see if some tartness doesn’t develop

Not a Belgium lover. Something off / odd about the after taste. Funky. Up front is yeast and bread as you would expect... But then funk. All else is good. Not one I would order again.

 

 

 

On tap at Three Penny Taproom, Montpelier VT. This was poured into a flared tulip. The appearance was a muddy burnt orange almost brown color with a good finger’s worth of white foamy head. Dissipates mildly and leaves some stringy lace here and there. The aroma yields to a crisp Belgian sweet to spicy coriander to Apple spice to bready malts. Some sticky pear. Sweet to semi-bitter grassy-like hops. The flavor marries it all together, bringing about the spices and the bready/yeasty Belgian malts to gloss over and slide on into the aftertaste and finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a great sessionability about it. Moderate carbonation felt good all around. Overall, pretty nice Belgian ale that I would have again.

 

On tap at Zero Gravity. Clear golden amber. Smell is fruity and bretty. Brett is even a little acidic. Taste is sharp brett up front. Light tartness. Then sweet malt. Earthy brett and a fruity yeasty finish. Lightly bitter. Medium body. Good. Maybe not quite my jam. Interesting take, but just a bit rough around the edges.
